Four Frogs in a Glass Pond

The children were thrilled to be on a fishing trip with their dad. But they never expected the worms they cast into the mountain pond to bring back frogs. And when the stubborn hoppers wouldn’t let go of the line, they opened up the door to a whole new adventure.
Once they got home with the frogs, the family had to figure out how to take care of them. And as they caught moths, grasshoppers, and other insects, they learned exactly what these little amphibians would and wouldn’t eat.
But with winter coming, the store of bugs was running out…
In Four Frogs in a Glass Pond, Laura Blodgett combines a charming story of a summer spent tending frogs with a detailed look into what makes these creatures jump. From day-to-day escapades to the front lines of a frog jumping contest, this straightforward story will take you on a delightfully educational journey.
Four Frogs in a Glass Pond is a beautifully illustrated children’s picture book. If you or your child like outdoor fun, learning through play, and amazing trivia, then you’ll love Laura Blodgett’s spring-loaded tale.

Deborah Byrd says “Delightful! – A cute, whimsical children’s book. I like how Laura writes a cute story to read, then includes some practical learning and factual information about frogs to add to the complete learning experience. Leave it to a home school mom to include the works. And Stacie Lee’s watercolor illustrations are beautiful, and perfectly fit the story.”
rlkennerly says “5 stars from my 9 year old – My 9 year old gives the book a 5 Star review, and this mom agrees! It’s a charming story, and the illustrations are very captivating.”
Holli Fry says “Educational and fun at the same time – I met Laura Blodgett through her homeschool website and have enjoyed reading her posts. As well as her blogs, Laura has also published several children’s books. Being a children’s author myself, I decided to contact her and see if she would like to read one of my books. I offered to read one of hers as well. We each sent the other a book, as agreed upon, and began reading. I selected her picture book Four Frogs in a Glass Pond.
Although we only agreed to read one another’s books with no obligation to review them, I am posting this review because I was very pleased with this selection. Being a former homeschool mom, I believe in providing learning experiences for children through the simplest experiences in life, the things that surround us each day as we live within God’s amazing creation.
In Four Frogs in a Glass Pond, a family accidentally catches frogs instead of fish while on a fishing trip and decide to take them home. This leads to a summer of learning about what frogs will and will not eat, how being cold-blooded affects their activities, and how their amazing skeletal system makes them super jumpers. It ends with a section on how to win a frog-jumping contest.
The illustrations are precious, and the information within the book is presented in a fun way so as to capture the curiosity of children and encourage them to learn more about the wonderful world God made.
I hope you will buy this book to enjoy with your children and plan a trip to the pond!
